COMPARISON OF STANDARD AND NONSTANDARD GEAR ROOT FILLET CONSIDERING ROOT STRESS AND MANUFACTURING POSSIBILITIES

In this paper, root stress, manufacturing possibilities and limitations of standard nonstandard tooth fillet spur gears are examined. Nowadays, trochoidal is used the most as an economical trade-off between strength complexity. A disadvantage fillet, especially in with less than 17 teeth, undercutting which minimises root, introduces stress concentration, deteriorates meshing conditions. This study focuses on different designs, namely elliptical novel cycloidal fillets. Root designs analysed by FEM compared analytical equations according to ISO. The possibility producing hobbing surface finishing considered well. Analysis reveals differences each shapes their relative advantages disadvantages.
